Rudall&Rose
The Rudall & Rose model is based on about 5 different Rudall & Rose and Rudall & Carte flutes that Geert has measured. The instrument has a very sweet, yet powerful tone, and is brilliant in its second octave, but it requires a bit more technique than a Standard model flute to make it sound well. The size of the finger holes of different original Rudall&Roses can vary greatly, so, next to Rudall&Rose models with average sized holes, we offer a model with small finger holes. This can be interesting for people with small hands.
The Rudall and Rose style flute is available with up to 8 keys: D#, F short, F long, G#, Bb, C and a pewter-plug C-foot with both the low C an C#. All keywork is block mounted. There is usually a waiting time for keyed instruments, please contact us for more information.
Unkeyed flutes are offered in African Blackwood and Boxwood, keyed instruments are also offered in Blackwood and boxwood and in Cocus for 6 or 8 keyed instruments. Because the wood is so rare (and expensive!) we don't make flutes in Cocus with less than six keys.
All flutes come with a tuning slide. The headjoint can be half-lined, lined with German silver or lined with sterling silver. Flutes in Cocus always come with sterling silver lining and a screw cap to adjust the headjoint's end cork position. The middle piece of this flute, the body, always comes in 2 pieces.
